When it comes to education, parents should look as closely at the school district as they do the schools their children will attend. Grand Central Park students attend Conroe ISD schools — a district that consistently receives top marks. CISD is the largest school district in Montgomery County serving more than 69,000 students across 67 campuses. That also makes it the ninth largest district in Texas and the 60th in the United States. It’s also one of the fastest growing, with an average enrollment growth of 1,500 students annually for the past 10 years. It’s growth that the district handles with ease. How do we know? The recognition it receives. Niche gives Conroe ISD an overall “A” rating based on the quality of the academics, the teachers, health and safety, diversity and extracurricular activities offered. The district took the No. 1 spot on 2022 lists of Best School Districts and Most Diverse School Districts in Montgomery County. It is among the top 30 best districts for athletes in the state. Conroe ISD also placed among the top 10 districts in the Houston area. The district’s academic standards are high. Students routinely score above average on state-mandated tests. When it comes to SAT and ACT scores, students beat state and national averages. For the ACT, students averaged 25.4, well above the state average of 20. 1 and the national average of 20. 3. The average SAT score was 1110 compared to the state average of 1003 and the national average of 1060. The district boasts a 97 percent graduation rate. CISD’s cutting-edge Career and Technological Education curriculum includes 13 career clusters, 29 programs of study and 150 course offerings. More than 22,000 seventh through 12th grade students enrolled in these courses last year. More than 4,700 students earned CTE certifications which will serve them well in college and the workforce. Happy employees make for a happy, well-educated student body. Conroe ISD is the county’s largest employer. It was named one of Houston’s top workplaces for 2021. Other accolades the district has received include being the 2nd highest rated district out of the 200 largest districts in the state based on academic and financial performance by Education Resource Group, as well as receiving five stars from TXSmartSchools for high academic achievement while maintaining cost-effective operations. It is one of only two districts to be awarded five stars since the program began. Grand Central Park students attend Wilkinson Elementary, Cryar Intermediate, Peet Junior High and Conroe High School.
