Don a Cape for CASA Superhero Run, Oct. 30August 26, 2021
Not everyone can do the job that volunteers for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Montgomery County do every day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a superhero to foster children. Just a don a cape and fly in for the CASA Superhero Run on Saturday, Oct. 30. Grand Central Park is hosting the event at The Lake House, 1000 Lake House Drive in Conroe. This year, runners can choose to run a timed 5K or 10K race in person or go virtual (not timed). Either way, you still get a t-shirt and a medal. Registration fee for the 5K is $35 per person. For the 10K, it is $55. The timed races begin at 7:30 and 7:40 a.m. Back by popular demand is the Hero Zero K. For this, you don’t have to do the hard work of running but you still get to be a superhero (and receive the medal and t-shirt). The race fee is $40. Register for any of the races online. A children’s Trail of Treats and family-oriented Fall Festival and Vendor Fair will follow the races at 9 a.m. Kids can wear their Halloween costumes and traverse the trail stopping off for sweet treats along the way. The fee is $10 per child and includes admission to the Fall Festival as well as a trick-or-treat bag, cape and commemorative dog tags. The Fall Festival will offer face painting, a petting zoo, bounce house, crafts, fall-themed photo area, vendor fair and more. If you would like to be a vendor, you can download an application here. CASA is the only recognized not-for-profit organization whose primary role is to train and supervise volunteers who are appointed by the court to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children. The annual Superhero Run has been raising funds for the program for 12 years. The goal this year is to raise $50,000. Participants raised $43,012 last year during an entirely virtual event. Join forces with other superheroes and support CASA. We’ll see you on race day. |
