Bark in the Park Fetches $4,000 for Charity

November 11, 2019

Dogs and their humans hiked our trails, participated in a canine-friendly “paw-ty” and raised more than $4,000 for charity during our 3rd Annual Bark in the Park Dog Walk on Nov. 2.

Operation Pets Alive, a non-profit, all-volunteer Montgomery County animal welfare organization, was the beneficiary of the event that attracted more than 1,800 humans and hundreds of hounds.

The main event was an opportunity to explore 1.5 miles of our winding, tree-lined trails. After the walk, mighty mutts and purebred pups were able to take a run at a special dog lure course where a mechanical lure simulated the chasing of live prey.

Free dog adoptions sponsored by Grand Central Park builders Perry Homes and Westin Homes resulted in eight pups finding “fur-ever” homes. Attendees also enjoyed food truck fare, kids activities, booths featuring pet vendors, a pup kissing booth, a dog costume contest and Frisbee-catching performances by the Houston Disc Dogs.

We applaud everyone who came out for this celebration of man’s best friend and look forward to “raising the “woof” with all of you next year. Check out these “paw-some” photos!
