Lone Star Throwdown
February 17, 2020
Lee and I definitely have a need for speed. Lee prefers what my dad calls a “speed” bike or bicycle, preferably one that is light in weight and shiny while I prefer fresh new running shoes. What can I say, I’m easy to please. I like other speedy things like cars, but prefer to cruise fairly close to the speed limit. Truth be told, I do have a thing for shiny objects and my favorite heavy metal happens to be a Range Rover. Oh yeah… if you ever see me driving one around Grand Central Park then please know that I've died and I've gone to heaven (but I'm making frequent trips to Earth). All kidding aside, who doesn't like cars on some level? In my humble opinion, cars are nostalgic like music in that they can remind us of a time and a place in history. For instance my very first car that I got when I was 15 years old (I had a hardship license, but that’s another story for another day) was a 1989 Ford Taurus….anyone else? And I must add that it was sky blue. #dontjudge The next car I owned was a green Honda Civic. What about you? What was your first car?
For the serious car connoisseur, I am barely scratching the surface about how cool cars really are and can be! If that’s you, then you probably already know about the upcoming Lone Star Throwdown event taking place February 21 - 23, 2020 at the Lone Star Convention Center. And I probably don't have to tell you that the Spectator weekend tickets are $20. But for those who don't know, you will see all kinds of cars ranging from:
● Classic cars ● Lowered cars ● Lifted cars ● Cars with hydraulics ● Fast cars ● Slow cars ● Jeeps ● Trucks ● Station Wagons (really) ● And every other kind of car you can imagine in between!
They show is capped at 2,000 cars (so you’re sure to see some pretty amazing automobiles) and 100 awards will be given out to the top cars, along with the Best of Award and Cash giveaways. Next year if you would like to enter your car, mark your calendar because the deadline to do so is January 1st. Who knows, maybe you’ll see your first car at the Throwdown! Now about that Ford Taurus…! |
